SONNY HORSES 4 HEROES is excited for our Ventura County community to nominate outstanding individuals, who represents the best in all of us. Sonny Horses 4 Heroes program, mission is to recognizing and celebrating the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of law enforcement officers and first responders. Through this program, which is part of the Sonny Horses 4 Kids initiative, we show gratitude to those who serve our communities selflessly while also fostering stronger connections between our children and the dedicated first responders of Ventura County. We invite you to help us in the selection process by nominating outstanding officers and first responders who exemplify the highest standards of service. Sonny Boy and the Sonny Horses 4 Kids team along with the senior department leaders will select one each month from the nominations to receive this distinguished honor a plaque of recognition along with the dinner at a restaurant of the recipients choice.

Officer DeLong is a newer officer with the department and is very dedicated to Santa Paula PD and the City of Santa Paula. Officer DeLong showed his commitment and resiliency during his time in the local police academy in 2023 and was very happy to join Santa Paula Police Department as a patrol officer after graduation. During this time, Officer DeLong has demonstrated his knowledge and understanding of community policing, volunteering to take part in talks with children at the schools, reading to kids at one of the programs at Blanchard library.most recently took on the job as Santa Paula’s PD representative to coordinate the Special Olympics Torch Run in Santa Paula. This is not an easy task, as there are many meetings, fundraisers, and run coordination to take care of. Officer DeLong is a hard-working employee, and very humble. You would never know that prior to this he was a certified professional race car driver, with a line of family history in this profession. Santa Paula
Officer DeLong is truly a community hero and a model example of service above self. He gives unselfishly of his time, of his heart, and of his knowledge. Johns passion for people and his desire to make this world a better place inspires and moves all of us to be better people. John leads by example and that is the cornerstone of a true leader. We couldn't think of a more deserving recipient of the 1st SONNY HORSES 4 HEROES -COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY AWARD! CONGRATULATIONS!!
