Please join us in congratulating our Septembers Sonny Horses 4 Heroes Award recipient Deputy Jorge Gomez of Thousand Oaks PD in the category of Life Saving Actions. How are you I was just Saturday next Saturday bye-bye
On September 8, 2025, Deputy Jorge Gomez responded to a suicidal subject call along with other deputies and firefighters to Hillcrest Royal Retirement, in Thousand Oaks. A male resident was straddling an exterior balcony, approximately 20 feet above the ground and advising he wanted to kill himself. Deputy Gomez was able to access the male's room and saw the male sitting on the balcony with one of his legs dangling over the balcony railing.
Without hesitation, Deputy Gomez sprang into action and courageously put himself into harm's way by grabbing the man's arm and pulling him off of the balcony. Thanks to Deputy Gomez' quick and decisive actions, the male emerged from the incident with only minor scrapes and received additional assistance to ensure his continued safety. Deputy Gomez is to be commended for his selfless actions, which prevented the male from taking his own life.
Deputy Gomez, you are a true hero. The bravery and courage and presence of mind in a life and death situation exemplifies what it means to be the best of the best.
